Al Mohler proves, yet again, why the religious right can't enter the conversation on the environment. I tenuously admit that perhaps some have turned environmentalism into a pseudo religion. Maybe. But, rarely, if ever, do leaders of the religious right actually discuss what ails our planet and our moral obligation to it.
Tim Challies is reading every book on the New York Times Bestsellers List for 2010. I am SUCH a fan of this, although he can be irritatingly conservative about EVERYTHING. From his glowing review of Sarah Palin's Going Rogue, to his disdain for anything critical of American history in The Imperial Cruise, Challies provides an interesting review of what he thinks makes a book great - or not. Whether you agree with him or not, his project is fascinating.
Modern art tattoos from ck/ck.
We always hear news on the devastation in Africa. Whether it is AIDS, governmental corruption, wars, child soldiers, lack of clean water or all the above it seems Africa is powerless to heal. Here is an article from Scot McKnight's Jesus Creed on Swaziland, a country you may not have heard of (warning: it's a bit of a downer).
On the subject of AIDS, I had a wicked dream last night where me and my friend Dan were captured by the Russian military, sprayed with the disease and let loose to create an epidemic in America (in my dream, it was spread by physical proximity, not sexual contact). Instead of running, we got guns and fought back. Dream ends with us being rescued by Japan.
Holiday Inn. Rolling out the strangest ideas.
Avatar. The most visually mind-blowing movie I've ever seen.
And finally, a quote: "Fortune favors the bold."
